DESERT LIGHT

	1	Many shots had to be filmed at dawn to catch the beautiful, mauve light. This meant driving long distances into the middle of nowhere and arriving in the cold darkness. The hot springs here have helped create mineral-encrusted salt flats where a rare type of snail lives. Throughout most of the Great Basin, water remains just below the ground.
